“The World’s Home of the Figure 8” TM is proud to announce that
Milltown, Indiana’s Mike Russ has entered the 29th Annual World
Figure 8 Championship at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis
Speedrome TM. Mike runs the Extreme Figure 8 series at the
Jeffersonville Sportsdrome and has purchased an Late Model Figure
8 car to run his rookie attempt in this race. Mike has won many
feature events as well as finishing top 5 in points and being
voted most popular driver at the defunct Louisville Motor
Speedway. This year will mark his 19th consecutive year going to
the World Championship as a spectator and crewmember dating back
to 1987. Mike has competed several times at the Speedrome in the
Stock Figure series with nice results.
In 1977 they said this race couldn’t be run, a three hour-long
Figure 8 contest. No car will last and no driver will last is what
everyone said. Now in its twenty-ninth year, the World Figure 8
Championship is a racing classic. Over the years 13 drivers have
held the crown and 486 have tested the crossover in this event.
Last year Bruce Tunny won his second World Title after outlasting
Jeff Shackelford and rookie phenom Corey Turner.
The 29th Annual World Figure 8 Championship is September 8-10 at
the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome. Over 50 cars are
expected from six different states for the “Daytona of Figure 8 “
racing. A three-day reserved seat ticket is only $25. For ticket

The Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome TM is located near
